Recently, we had the privilege of working on a stunning property in Mermaid Beach, Gold Coast, owned by a respected doctor. 

The homeowner was seeking a robust and sleek energy solution for his prominent and beautiful home. Our team meticulously removed the outdated system and integrated a cutting-edge battery solution within the confined space of a double garage. 

Our key objectives for the project included reducing power bills, enhancing power protection, integrating electric vehicle (EV) systems, and ensuring future Virtual Power Plant (VPP) capabilities.

This project was not without its challenges. Integrating a battery system in a limited garage space and managing the harsh salt sea mist conditions of Mermaid Beach required creative solutions. 

One of the hurdles we faced was the need to conceal electrical work without using internal conduit. We collaborated with the builder to construct a wall and overhead bulkhead, achieving both functionality and aesthetics.

To combat the corrosive effects of the coastal environment, we installed a powerful 20kW solar array using advanced double glass solar panel technology, ensuring longevity and efficiency.

From a technical standpoint, the 20kW solar array with double glass solar panels was specifically chosen to withstand the harsh salt sea mist conditions. The energy storage system included two Tesla Powerwalls, providing 27kWh of energy storage, which ensures the property is entirely energy-neutral, with excess power being exported back to the grid. 

To enhance the property’s aesthetic appeal, we installed a Mercato LED coloured wireless-controlled light set, adding ambient lighting and transforming the home into a showcase masterpiece.

By implementing this state-of-the-art energy solution, the property significantly reduces its carbon footprint. 

The combination of solar power and efficient energy storage minimises reliance on the grid, promoting sustainability and environmental responsibility. 

The project was also designed with future upgrades in mind, including integration with EV systems and capability for future VPP participation, ensuring the homeowner can continue to benefit from advancements in renewable energy technology.
