Energex, 1 October 2026
The Sunshine Coast is on the Energex network. Until 1 October 2026, Energex limited a single-phase home charger to 20A (about 4.6kW) unless a network-controlled device was fitted. That rule is gone. A single-phase charger can now run at 32A, about 7.4kW, with no extra device.
On a 7kW charger, home EV charging adds roughly 40 km of range an hour, so a run from Noosa to Caloundra and back is in the car overnight. We still check your home’s maximum demand and lodge the Energex notification for you. Read the full Queensland rules.

V2H
Every Sigenergy AC charger uses the Type 2 connector found on almost every electric vehicle sold in Australia. It is IP65 weatherproof and has scheduled charging in the mySigen app, with dynamic load management so it never overloads your switchboard.
Solar EV charging
Grid power costs 28 to 32 cents per kWh. Pair the charger with a Sigenergy SigenStor system and, in 100% PV mode, it fills the car from spare rooftop solar instead. On a sunny day that adds 60 to 80 km of range from your own roof.
Add the DC charging module and a compatible EV becomes a backup battery. When a storm takes out the power, the car can help run the house.
Already have solar? We’ll show you the options for your solar at the site check. That’s where charging at home really pays off.
A Sigenergy solar and battery system we installed in Nirimba in October 2026 shows what that platform looks like on a Sunshine Coast home:
| Suburb | Solar | Battery | Setup |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nirimba | 17.64kW | 45.2kWh | Three-phase, full-home backup |
Where we install
We handle EV charger installation on the Sunshine Coast from the beaches to the hinterland:
Send photos of your switchboard and where you park, or we’ll visit. A site check takes 30 to 45 minutes and there’s no call-out fee.
Units, holiday rentals and business
Unit owners need body corporate approval and, often, load management so several cars can share one supply. Holiday rentals and short-stay homes in Noosa and Mooloolaba are adding a charger as a guest amenity, and a 7kW charger tops up a guest’s car overnight.
For workplaces, retail and hospitality sites, we design multi-bay charging that stays within your site’s capacity. Car dealerships can also partner with ESC to book a home charger for every EV buyer.

Most installs take two to three hours. We test the charger with your car and set up the app before we leave.
Your electrician notifies Energex, and we lodge it for you. Since 1 October 2026, a single-phase charger up to 32A no longer needs a network-controlled device.
Most homes built after 2000 can take a 7kW charger without one. Older homes may need an upgrade, or load management can avoid it. We check at the site visit and price it upfront.
Yes. We install from Caloundra to Noosa and up through Maleny, Montville, Mapleton and Kenilworth. Send your suburb with your quote request and we’ll confirm.
Only with three-phase power, and your car must accept 22kW. On single-phase, a 7kW Sigenergy charger is the right fit.
Not from Sunshine Coast Council or the Queensland Government. A federally funded ARENA trial has offered limited-time discounts on chargers that let the network adjust charging, for homes on the Energex network. For most solar homes, charging from your own roof is the bigger long-term saving.
Yes, but a 10A power point adds only about 12 km of range an hour to an electric vehicle. A 7kW EV charger (often called Level 2) is about three times faster, on its own protected circuit.
